Algorithmic Saturation Reaches Critical Mass on Deezer
Neue Musikzeitung (NMZ)
Deezer’s report that 44% of new uploads are AI-generated signals the end of the streaming platform as a curated cultural repository. The transition to a volume-driven data stream is now a mathematical reality. This saturation reflects the breakdown of the editorial filter that once defined music distribution. When nearly half of all content is produced by algorithm, the distinction between a composed work and a sequence of data becomes functionally invisible to the distributor. This is the logical outcome of a model that prioritizes engagement metrics over artistic intent. The mechanism of curation has been replaced by a mechanism of accumulation, leaving the listener to navigate an ocean of noise without a compass.
